Growing up in Europe (Hungary), I always wanted to visit the UK, but never had the chance.

Fast forward twenty something years, and an opportunity opened up to attend a convention called For The Love of Fantasy.

My hubby and I didn’t hesitate to sign up and combine our trip with a brief vacation before the event, spending time in London.

From the first moment we arrived, it was a magical trip. The weather was beautiful (it’s a big deal over there), perfect for sightseeing. Everywhere I looked, from the hundreds of years old buildings (castles, theaters, embassies, etc. ) to the red double-decker buses (many electric) and black cabs, there was so much to learn and uncover about English culture.

We had “proper” high-tea, Beauty and the Beast themed at the hotel the first afternoon (even jet lag couldn’t ruin it). We watched Mamma Mia at a West End theater (how posh!). Saw so many historic sites in London, including the Globe, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and many Roman Ruins scattered around.

Then we visited Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and Bath. Each place had so much history that it was a great pleasure to soak up their stories. (I mean, they still don’t know how Stonehenge was built!). I took hundreds of pictures, yet they do not pay back the majestic and awe-inspiring feeling I had visiting such amazing places. There is something surreal to walk around places that have been there for so long.

The convention was wonderful! There were many people visiting from all over the country and even the world. There were many excited fans of the Vampire Diaries and Buffy, to name a few. It was only a two-day event, but we met many new readers there, who stopped by our B.A.R.F. tavern (we only served books for the thirsty readers).

Long before we knew it, it was time to head back home. But that’s okay–I’m already planning a return trip next year (crossing fingers).
