I can’t help but look back at this year and feel grateful for all the experiences I had.

I would like to celebrate with you the many firsts this year brought: WonderCon ‘23; the first Grand Prize win for my debut novel; in-person panels; LA Book Festival; San Diego ComicCon; exhibit at Dragon Steel; first immersive booth at LACC that included amazing and talented cosplayers; the first award for the Best Medium Sized Booth at LACC ‘23. I still can’t believe these!

I confess that I have been largely avoiding saying that I am proud of all these achievements. Partly because I was scared to jinx it, and partly because I worried I’d sound arrogant and not humble as my parents raised me.

However, this morning, as I shared all the fun tidbits with my mom about what happened at LACC, she said to me with tears in her eyes, “I hope you are proud of all that you accomplished, and of yourself.”

For the first time, I’d like to celebrate with you how far this Hungarian-American girl came. From dreaming of being a writer at age 9, to moving to the US and having to learn to speak English, to publishing books in my beloved series, to this unbelievable and surreal year.

Of course, as usual, this is not the end of my journey; only a new beginning. Book 4: Meddling Mages came out today, and I can’t wait to dive into writing Book 5 for next year.

Thank you kindly for being there with me. Thank you so much for coming to my booth, and coming back for all the other events. Thank you for your support. It means the world to me!
